Yesterday was Valentine's Day, 14th February and what a great day to publish my latest and fifth book entitled THE BLUE HOUSE (Special thanks to Mary Kane in Canada for the cover photo).
The Blue House is a book that I started to write at the beginning of January this year and finished it before the month had come to an end. That was quite a surprise to me that I actually wrote so much in such a short space of time, but this book came alive and the inspiration just flowed and sometimes I would spend days behind my laptop and be absolutely amazed when I read back at the end of the day before going to sleep how much I had written.
As all good books start with a plan and an idea for the story, this actually happened when I attended an event at the end of December in Holland called 'White Planet'. Suddenly I heard the title in my mind and then the first few sentences and I just knew that this book was going to be something completely different and special.
It is the first time I have ever written romantic fiction, and it was such fun to actually write. Literally living in a world for a time between fact and fiction and including things that I could weave into the storyline, when I feel that I can write about them from my own knowledge, for example places I have actually visited. I was very pleased that I got a lot of help from someone, just wrote a letter and asked right out of the blue and they agreed and it gave me insight into things I don't know a lot about but made the story (even though its fiction) so much more real.
When I made the first print out and all the chapters were split into sections mainly because the document gets too large to deal with, it took an entire pack of paper and several cartridges for my simple printer.
I asked my daughter to read the book and make any adjustments in the spelling and grammar of words and also a couple of people got a 'preview' into some of the chapters. It was the comments I received back from them that made me feel that this book is absolutely on track and they like it and when someone asks: 'what happens next?' it is a good sign too. The book invited them to know more and read on!
So what is THE BLUE HOUSE all about? Well its a story when two people meet somewhere unexpectedly. They know one another under completely different circumstances, and despite the fact that they both have quite serious issues with their own consciences, they realize that when a powerful emotion like love becomes involved, there is in fact no choice but to be together. So they literally give up everything for one another and buy a house which is called The Blue House. The book is all about their life together, the places they go and how they deal with their respective families, friends and colleagues.
Some aspects of this book are funny I think they actually made me laugh when I was typing the words because even though a book may be fiction and completely made up which it is, if you can relate to real life situations and places then you can create a vision in the eyes of the reader. Also I found that things happened whilst I was writing, someone would ring up and tell me something and then I thought I have just written this in my book, so I saw so many signs and synchronicity whilst the book was in the make. Good signs and important.
The book was released yesterday (14th February 14.02) at exactly 14.02.02 hrs. I just love it when the numbers come into line as well. Available through bol.com in a few days or through me the author. This book so far is only published in The Netherlands and for the first time ever will come out in Dutch later this year. But this book needs and almost demands a bigger audience, so please share this blog freely in your own social circles.
Reading the Blue House, will offer you the chance to escape from the daily routine and immerse yourself in a great love story between the main two characters Grace and Matthew.
